TEACHER TRAINING

Here's the Deal...

This isn't your average teacher training. We all know you can get certified from a lot of studios, which means we both know that you need something a cut above the rest.

The YogaZama 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program is a Yoga Alliance-certified training that balances yogic tradition with an understanding of the nervous system to bring its students next-level teacher training instruction. In addition to learning the necessary foundations to become a successful instructor, YZTT students explore neuroscience and how to apply an understanding of the nervous system to yogic philosophy.

At its core, this program is about healing yourself so that you can heal the community. It's about committing to and taking a step towards a more spiritual understanding of yourself.

As the saying goes, the journey is inward, and YZ is here to guide you.

FAQs

Yes! — providing you submit your registration to Yoga Alliance and follow Yoga Alliance governing rules and regulations. Yoga Alliance is a non-profit organization which sets requirements for teacher training programs, certifies yoga training programs, certifies yoga teachers, and offers guidance — along with requirements — for practicing as a registered yoga teacher.

Yoga Alliance (YA) is a national non-profit organization that “exists to confer credibility on qualified yoga teachers and schools so the public can have confidence in the quality of yoga instruction they receive”. Due to the popularity and growth of yoga in the United States, the need for competent teachers and safe classes is apparent. Yoga Alliance sets standards, maintains a registry of yoga teachers whose training and experience meet these minimum standards, along with a registry of yoga schools whose curriculum meet their minimum standards.

The LISPY school is a registered school with Yoga Alliance at the 200 level (RYS200 & RYS200).

Upon graduation from our immersive programs, students are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT.

The Yoga Alliance Registry does not certify yoga therapists, solely yoga teachers. For more information visit: YogaAlliance.org

Yes! We view any 200 RYT as a solid start — similar to a bachelor’s degree from a good college or university. YogaZama™ teacher training is graduate level training — similar to a master’s degree — to help you MASTER higher-level concepts and techniques. We encourage students with an existing 200 RYT to enroll in our 200-hour RYT/PYT program as you'll be learning brand new ways of integrating yoga and nervous system regulation techniques through this deepened instruction, new lessons and fabulous electives. Check out the full curriculum here!

No. Diagnosing and treating mental illness is SERIOUS business -- and should only be done by licensed or pre-licensed mental health professionals. In this course, you will learn about common mental health challenges and gain the tools to effect positive change -- and to collaborate with mental health clinicians when clients need more help than you can provide. We will teach you how and why to refer and defer!

In addition to teaching YogaZama™ branded classes, our graduates teach and work in a number of settings — teaching a wide variety of classes — from power yoga to Yin yoga to Ashtanga. YogaZama™ training will allow you to deepen whatever practice you are teaching by layering neuro-science based techniques onto any practice or modality — through intelligent sequencing, goal-directed breath-work and more.

Yes! You will also have a second credential — LISPY’s own PYT - which indicates you have completed LISPY’s 200 or 200 teacher training program! Two certifications for the price of one!

Yes! YogaZama™ is for everyone! Anyone wanting to optimize their life through a science-based yoga program will LOVE this training — all are welcome!

YogaZama™ teacher training is like anything else in life — you get out of it what you put into it. Having said that — you will learn life-changing lessons in this training! Once you learn the unique concepts related to optimizing your yoga practice, your brain health, and your life...you will have a knowledge base that can change the trajectory of your intentional life management forever. We think it’s a bell you won’t want to un-ring!

No. We will teach you the basics of yoga as we go through the entire program. The difference in YogaZama™ training is that we’ll teach you the what, how AND the why -- by adding neuroscience to traditional yoga training. Advanced yoga knowledge is not required! We do recommend that if you are new to yoga, you should check with your health professional about any relevant medical concerns before you begin your YogaZama™ training.

YogaZama™’s teacher trainings will allow you to teach and practice the unique modality of psychotherapeutic yoga — a brain-science based approach to all yoga traditions. YogaZama™’s teacher trainings are Yoga Alliance certified programs. In addition to your RYT credential, you will receive The LISPY School’s unique credential, PYT (psychotherapeutic yoga teacher) or PYC (psychotherapeutic yoga clinician), depending on your prerequisite certifications and licenses. IAYT credentialing is done through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. The LISPY School is not an IAYT certified school.

YogaZama's training does not qualify graduates to diagnose or treat mental illness, nor practice as a licensed mental health professional. The yoga therapy components of LISPY’s training are not derived from our RYS status with Yoga Alliance.
